FRAUD TEXT ALERT! We have been informed by several Van Wert area residents that they received a text message using our bank name that warns about a pending charge from “MarkM#34.”
Although using our bank name, this text message did not come from First Federal of Van Wert. This text is an example of how common phishing or “smishing” scams have become.
The scammer is using our bank name and attempting to trick customers into sharing their personal information.
